1 Samuel 7 tells a powerful story about Israel. After losing a battle and the Ark of the Covenant, they cried out to God. In His faithfulness, God restored what was lost, and Israel set a stone of remembrance, naming it Ebenezer—“God has brought us this far.” It was a reminder that His past faithfulness gave them confidence for the future.

Our Story

When we founded our remodeling company in 2018, that story resonated deeply with us. Remodeling is not just about updating a house—it’s about honoring what has been and creating a place where people can flourish in the future. At Ebenezer, we strive to go beyond building beautiful spaces. We invest in people—homeowners, team members, vendors, and subcontractors—building on the foundations of the past to help shape a stronger, more hopeful future.

Long before Ebenezer was envisioned, Brian and Renee Davis were getting hands-on with trades and the foundational principles for their work was being laid.

Renee grew up with a family of avid DIYers and as a pre-teen spent much time dreaming her way through her dad’s residential architecture and home remodeling magazines.  In high school she spent several summers on mission trips, including a month of construction at a camp in Czech Republic, where her team hand dug and poured the foundation for a new dining hall, and did general maintenance around the camp.

Brian has always been a builder at heart.  From a very young age, he sought to understand how things worked and how to do it on his own, from pinewood derby cars to baking with his beloved “Grandma Goose”.  In high school, he began his first job in the trades working for a family friend, laying tile and coping stones.  His creativity flourished in high school art classes as he learned more about artistic design and visual balance through his many pottery projects.

Brian and Renee met at college in Chicago, IL. Even in the early years they fell into designer/ builder roles naturally. In 1999, After hearing of the devastation in Honduras after Hurricane Mitch, Brian joined a team of classmates who spent their spring break helping a village clean up and rebuild. As newlyweds, 2 home insurance claims in the first 6 months of home ownership gave them their first experience as a team in residential remodeling.

As the family grew, so did their skills and ways to bless their family and others. From 2003-2010, the Davis family served as missionaries in East Africa. Brian’s experience in the trades was used often to bless their community there. They also designed and built their first kitchen.

From 2011 to 2018, Brian worked for a prominent remodeling and construction company in Lexington, SC as an electrician, plumber, and tile mason. He eventually became project manager and engineer for home features. He even engineered and built an award winning display at the Carolina Classic Home and Garden Show in 2016.

With a heart and vision to build a company which invests in the community and helps train apprentices in the trades, Brian and Renee started Ebenezer Remodeling in 2018.

With these guiding life experiences, Brian and Renee have continued to build Ebenezer on the following core values:

  • Ebenezer has a strong commitment to being a company with integrity.  From the very first interaction, we seek to build a trusting relationship with our clients.  In an industry rampant with distrust between homeowners and contractors, we take our reputation very seriously and seek to be open and honest in all our interactions.

  • We are committed to delivering the highest standard in everything we do. With pride in our craftsmanship and dedication to detail, we approach each project with care and precision. While perfection is a pursuit, not a guarantee, we hold ourselves accountable to always make it right — ensuring every client’s home reflects their vision and meets their expectations.

  • At Ebenezer, we believe that beyond the fiscal return of property investment, a homeowner is making a valuable investment in their family and personal relationships that will be nurtured within their home.  Likewise, we are committed to making an investment in the people around us.  Ebenezer is committed to training young people in the industry. We seek out young men and women with teachable, hard-working attitudes who want to build a career in remodeling, and we apprentice them into their desired roles and trades.  We are committed to reusing and recycling unwanted products for non-profits and local community benefit. We share 10% of all company profit with several non-profits.
